Description
This is the ultimate doll for the collector of America’s golden age of doll making. Completely original, MINT, and from the original owner. You can’t get more “attic find” than this. It is the perfect time capsule that reveals a tiny version of society of that era. Someday, she will be an antique and keeping this original trousseau with her will be very important for value and doll history—same as the beautiful 19th century French fashions with trousseaus, now nearly impossible to find.A California company, Artisan Doll (Artisan Novelty Co.), introduced a beautiful and collectible all hard plastic doll, a "walker" named "Raving Beauty" circa 1950.
The hard plastic is of superior quality, sturdy and durable.
A gorgeous doll with a sweet rounded childlike face and an open mouth exposing teeth and a tongue. Her hair is advertised as "Ravon" which can be shampooed and set. Approx 20-21” tall, she commands admiration.
Referred to as a "walker," Raving Beauty is easily recognized because of her unusual wide spread legs with a well-concealed walking mechanism. Unlike the other walking dolls of this era, the legs on Raving Beauty fit close to her torso which does not hinder the dressing and undressing of the doll in any way.
She is only marked 210. I believe she is indeed Raving Beauty, but early hard plastic dolls can sometimes be difficult to positively ID. She could also be Arranbee, Mollyes, Roberta, Uneeda, or many others. I compared her face and hips to Raving Beauty and she seems to be a match and not much is known about the short lived company.
Doll and trousseau are in perfect time traveling condition. Almost like never played with. Her hair is in two main braided pigtails and two sets of braids pinned to her upper head.
