UNIVERSAL MARK I
. A highly accurate frame by frame scanner for 8mm & 16mm movie film. With the upgrade to Pro it now scans a 400ft reel in approx 30 minutes.
Requires only a PC with 64 bit Windows 7, 8 or 10 approx 2.4Ghz Intel i5 or i7, (no AMD). Lenovo brand not recommended. The scanning is codec-free and no expensive video capture cards needed. You can also export numbered images sequences. It does not transfer audio but you can run sound film through it. Film advances with take up
reel and there are no sprockets, claws, pinch roller, no belts, no gears - it is basically maintenance-free. LED cool lighting, you can actually leave film in place, machine does not even get warm.
This is the base model, does not include a film gate. The 8mm Gate with LightPin (00) and the 16mm Gate, no LightPin (0) are available separately. However, this base model and the two Gates may be purchased together for 95.00, saving 0
- practically the 16mm Gate for free.
FYI
: As often occurs on electronics, newer versions often remove valuable features. The newer model Universal Mark II does not have the adjustable reel arms. This model for sale, the Mark I, has adjustable arms
allowing the use of very large reels as seen in picture #3. Requires only an allen wrench and takes less than a minute.
Personal tips and tricks
: Mac Users: It appears there's a way to run on a Mac but is not supported by MovieStuff. I simply bought an additional small brick PC and small monitor to use as a stand alone. Render to a portable USB hard drive and then plug into your Main Computer for editing.
This unit, as well as all new units, requires an app you must purchase and download for your PC. Easy to install software and hardware info is on their Moviestuff website.
Important: Please Read
- No Returns No Refunds for any reason - I purchased this from MovieStuff with the '
No Returns No Refunds for any reason' policy and it is being sold the same way. It was sent to MovieStuff for refurbishing, remains with them and will be sent directly to the buyer at no charge ( value) plus 90 day warranty. This is a great machine, even more so with the LightPin
. Ask any questions BEFORE purchasing -
