Description
Large hardplastic doll from the late 1940’s to the early 1950’s. Her body has the color painted on similar to other dolls of that era.She appears to be unmarked but looks a lot like an American Character Sweet Sue or an Arranbee Nancy Lee.
She is played with, has been poorly restrung but should display okay. Her head and arms can hold a pose but her legs are a little loose, most likely due to the crack in her hip.
Her face color is still somewhat nice but there are some rubs and discoloring on it. Her lip color seems to end short on the right side of her mouth.
Her green sleep eyes work well . The paint on her eyelids is paler than her face color, but she may have been made that way.
She has all of her soft lashes but her eyebrows are faint.
Her wig appears to be original , it’s looks to be stitched onto a cloth cap and glued on her head. The wig needs to be styled.
There is a lot of excess glue under the back of the wig so I can not determine if she is marked or not.
She has a small crack on the right side of her head on the seam.
Over all her body is fair to good. The paint is a little splotchy, especially on her chest.
There is a large crack/ open seam on her right hip along with glue residue from what looks like old masking tape that must have been there for decades. She has a small dent on the right side of her backend.
Her limbs have a few small black spots on them. I have not tried to clean them off.
She has been redressed in a home sewn gown that is a little wide for her slender frame. It is drawn up with a satin ribbon under the lace collar.
She is wearing vintage panties that are worn and have been repaired, vintage rayon socks and cloth shoes that have wear and staining in the back.
She measures about 21” tall.
The doll does not have any foul odors but does have a faint musty smell that old hard plastic dolls can get.
